ESG Platform
The ESG Platform is an internal project developed by FARM Solutions to make ESG more accessible for companies and organisations.
FARM designed and built the platform from the ground up, including the software tools, community layer, and underlying system. The project is part of the broader FARM ecosystem, where platforms are built to simplify complex processes through data and structured systems.
The ESG Platform focuses on reducing the financial and operational barriers that companies face when working with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).
INTRODUCTION
Many companies want to work with ESG but run into practical limitations.
The process is often expensive, time-consuming, and unclear. Companies typically rely on multiple external parties such as consultants, legal advisors, and auditors, which makes ESG difficult to approach, especially for SMEs.
At the same time, ESG regulations are constantly changing, which creates additional uncertainty about what needs to be done and when.
As a result, ESG becomes fragmented and difficult to manage, instead of something that can be applied in a structured way.
THE PROBLEM
The ESG Platform is built to remove the cost and complexity of working with ESG.
Instead of relying on multiple external advisors, the platform brings tools, knowledge, and a community together in one system. Companies can understand ESG, work with practical tools, and connect with others facing similar challenges.
FARM developed the platform as a web-based system where companies can collect and structure their internal ESG data. The tools provide a clear overview of what is in place and what is still missing, forming the foundation for further reporting and compliance.
The platform supports different stages, from beginners to more advanced organisations, and evolves continuously based on usage, data, and changing ESG requirements.
OUR APPROACH
ESG turned out to be a constantly changing system, shaped by regulation, sector-specific requirements, and interpretation.
We learned that companies need an ongoing system around them: continuous feedback, context, and interaction. This is why the platform evolved into a combination of data tools, community, and structured workflows instead of a standalone product.
Another key insight is that ESG differs per sector, which makes a fixed solution ineffective. The platform therefore relies on a continuous feedback loop between users, data, and system development.
WHAT WE LEARNED
As the platform developed, this approach also led to external recognition, including being nominated for “Best Software Developer”, winning “Best Emerging ESG Software Developer 2024 Europe”, and nominations for both “Greentech Startup of the Year 2025” and “Youth Startup of the Year 2025” within the Global Startup Awards.
