Project Rowan
INTRODUCTION
Project Rowan is an internal initiative by FARM Solutions focused on awareness and prevention of domestic violence, with a specific focus on violence against women.
FARM developed Project Rowan as a platform that brings together multiple initiatives, each addressing different stages of awareness, prevention, and support.
Rather than a single product, Project Rowan functions as an umbrella environment where different projects are connected and developed within one structure.
THE PROBLEM
Violence against women is a complex issue that develops over time and often goes unrecognized in early stages.
Many existing initiatives focus on support after situations have already escalated, while there is less structured attention on early awareness and prevention.
At the same time, information and support are often fragmented across different organisations, making it harder for individuals to find the right help at the right moment.
OUR APPROACH
Project Rowan focuses on prevention by creating early awareness and providing accessible guidance before situations escalate.
Instead of a single solution, the platform brings together multiple initiatives that each address a different stage, from early education to later support. By structuring these initiatives within one environment, Project Rowan creates more continuity and makes it easier to understand situations and find relevant help.
FARM developed this as a growing platform where projects like “Is mijn relatie gezond”, “Healthy Hearts”, and “Het Vrije Meisje” can exist alongside each other and evolve over time.
WHAT WE LEARNED
What we learned is that violence against women is a much broader and more layered problem than it first appears. It exists in different stages and contexts, which all require their own type of attention and expertise.
We also learned that we don’t have that expertise in every part of this space ourselves. Because of that, Project Rowan only works if it is built together with people and organisations who are already deeply involved in this field and are committed to addressing it in a meaningful way.
